Paul Childers
Paul has co-founded the ministries of Word by Heart, photogenX and A Voice for the Voiceless. He is currently in leadership at YWAM Kona with Loren and Darlene Cunningham. Paul teaches and preaches locally and globally. He has reached 87 nations through his public ministry. He is married and lives with his three children in Kailua-Kona, HI.
Biography
Paul Childers was born and raised in New Zealand to an American father and a New Zealand mother. His broader family has been involved in church ministry for over 100 years. For four generations, there have always been church leaders and preachers in his family line.
When he was eight years of age, Paul had a strong interest in the world and missions. At 14, he went on his first mission trip to Hong Kong and China. During that time, the Lord called Paul into “full-time Christian service.” After completing high school in 1992, Paul joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) at the age of 17. He has been actively involved in ministry ever since. He earned two degrees. One from the University of the Nations in Christian Ministry and another from Laidlaw College (the largest theological college in New Zealand) in Biblical Studies with a strong emphasis in Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
After years of studying, Paul was given an opportunity that changed his life. Loren Cunningham, the founder of YWAM, invited Paul to travel with him. Over a three year period, Paul travelled with Loren around Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, the United States, and New Zealand. Although Paul always had a global perspective, being mentored by Loren stoked faith and hope in his heart that anything was possible with God. Paul went on to preach the good news in 87 nations on six continents.
In 2002, Paul married Susi Childers from Germany. They pioneered the ministries of photogenX and A Voice for the Voiceless together. Later, Paul also co-founded Word By Heart.
In addition, Paul currently is in leadership with Loren and Darlene Cunningham of the YWAM Kona (University of the Nations Kona) which trains approximately 3,000 people per year for missions and has 650 staff. Outreach teams are regularly working in over 80 countries around the world.
Paul lives in Kailua Kona, HI with his wife Susi and their three children.
